Front Cover Analysis (The Fly)
Here, I have a front cover of 'THE FLY'. It is an indie music magazine, that I personally find very interesting. The main image is of a band called 'Foals'. The person in the middle comes over the title, and you can see this as is head is in front of the 'E' on the title. This gives the person quite a dominating, important look, as he is in front of the title, and could be seen as just as important as the magazine itself, if not more. Also, the main pieces of text are kept to a small amount, making the cover seem rather tidy and minimalistic. The main text reads 'FOALS Band of the moment. Album of the year.' This keeps everything sharp and snappy, and because the magazine is to the point, this means that there is no need for any more text than there already is, keeping everything looking great overall without much going on at all. Also, the colour scheme is brilliant. All font is either black or white, and there isn't much colour in the main image either, as there is a lack of saturation, and a blueish coloured filter. This makes things seem the same, and minimalistic once again, which is great. However, there is a sign on the top left, just underneath the beginning of the title that is a bright yellow colour, making people interested in what it might say and could cause people to want to read it, and see what it has to offer, instantly making it more interesting to anybody that walks by. The magazine also shows a website, just underneath the end of the title, which is brilliant as it advertises the main site straight away, giving the target audience another place to look to read more about the magazine itself, which could increase profits and popularity massively, making this a rather smart move to make. Altogether, I think everything works brilliantly, as there is not too much going on, rather, not enough, giving it a basic look, but still keeping it classy and attractive to look at. I think that this magazine is brilliant altogether, and I would rate it an 8 or 9 out of 10.
